Calculating your bra size involves two main measurements: the band size and the bust size. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

How to Calculate Your Bra Size: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Measure Your Band Size

  1. Get a Measuring Tape: Use a soft measuring tape for accuracy.
  2. Position the Tape: Wrap the tape around your ribcage, just under your bust. Ensure the tape is snug but not tight, and it should be parallel to the ground.
  3. Read the Measurement: Round the measurement to the nearest whole number.
  • If the measurement is even, add 4 inches (e.g., if you measure 32 inches, your band size is 36).
  • If the measurement is odd, add 5 inches (e.g., if you measure 33 inches, your band size is 38).

Step 2: Measure Your Bust Size

  1. Position the Tape: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, ensuring it is parallel to the ground and not too tight.
  2. Read the Measurement: Round the measurement to the nearest whole number.

Step 3: Calculate the Cup Size

  1. Subtract the Band Measurement from the Bust Measurement: This difference will help you determine your cup size.
  2. Use the Difference to Find Your Cup Size:
  • 1 inch difference = A cup
  • 2 inches difference = B cup
  • 3 inches difference = C cup
  • 4 inches difference = D cup
  • 5 inches difference = DD (or E) cup
  • And so on…

Example Calculation

  • Band Measurement: 32 inches
  • Adjusted Band Size: 32 + 4 = 36
  • Bust Measurement: 38 inches
  • Difference: 38–36 = 2 inches
  • Cup Size: B

So, the bra size in this example would be 36B.

Tips for Accurate Measurement

  • Wear a Lightly Lined or Unpadded Bra: This ensures you get a more accurate measurement of your actual bust size.
  • Measure in Front of a Mirror: This helps you ensure the tape is level.
  • Take Multiple Measurements: Measure a few times to ensure consistency.
